Goodyear Guard Tower
This tower was built between 1915 to 1917. Erected as a reminder to Goodyears employees of the importance of time. It also served as a memorial to the Old Guard -- Goodyear's original employees who were still working at the company in 1917. The names of the Old Guard are cast inside the largest of the tower's bells. (The chimes were installed in 1920.) There also is a plaque at the base of the tower.
In 1998, as part of the company's centennial celebration, the structure became home to a time capsule to be opened in 2098.
This tower is a working bell tower, chiming every 15 minutes.
